Clean air for health care

The Vitec Air Purification System (VAPS)is a cost-efficient way to help halt the airborne spread of viruses and infections in your hospital. Easy to install and maintain, it bolts on to existing air conditioning systems or can be integrated as part of a new build creating a clean, safe environment.

The air that we breathe is full of micro-organisms and chemicals – most of which are harmless. But sometimes the air can contain pathogens, noxious odours and allergens. Once inside, these pollutants can be found in concentrations that are up to 25 times higher than outside air. At these levels, there is compelling evidence that infectious contaminants are more likely to spread through airborne transmission.

Viruses such as influenzas, common colds and Norovirus in a health care environment translate directly into sick leave for health care professionals and are hazardous for patients. This threat can be greatly reduced with the introduction of an air purification system.

The innovative Vitec Air Purification System has the patented Vitec Antimicrobial Nanotechnology at its core. It eliminates pathogens, odours and allergens from air circulating in buildings creating a clean, healthy environment. (See over for details of the three stage process.)

FEATURES OF THE VITEC AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEM

  • Eliminates 99.997% of airborne pathogens: viruses, bacteria and fungi
  • Removes all noxious odours completely
  • Obliterates some allergens, e.g., animal dander, pollens and aromatics that aggravate asthma
  • Enables safe recirculation of air

ADVANTAGES OF THE VITEC AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEM

  • Independently tested by the Centre for Applied Microbiology and Research & Defence Science Technology Laboratory: deemed 99.997% effective
  • UK & US Green Building Councils registered technology
  • Cost-effective and easy to both install and maintain

BENEFITS OF THE VITEC AIR PURIFICATION SYSTEM

  • Reduced sickness levels amongst health care staff and patients
  • Cost savings as energy efficient
  • Green, non-aggressive nanotechnology

CASE STUDY

The System was installed in an ICU area of a London University Hospital and tests on the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) were carried out over an extended period in the protected area, two similar but unprotected areas and a control area. During the test period the protected area remained free from an outbreak that spread throughout the unprotected areas.
