Crew health and wellbeing is paramount on a naval vessel. Sickness on board is hard to contain and difficult to treat. This can be costly in terms of manpower and may have an impact on the overall responsiveness and effectiveness of the vessel. The Vitec Air Purification System (VAPS) can help to prevent the spread of viruses and on-board infection.

CASE STUDY

VAPS was installed in an open plan area where several people had complained of respiratory irritation. Levels of biological load were taken prior to installing VAPS. Once operational, measurements were taken again and the total biological load had decreased by 84%.

Following this, the units were switched off, and three days later the levels were rapidly increasing again.
